At the Guardian Shining Stars Academy, we believe in the well-rounded development of skills for our students. Our classrooms are housed in 2 adjacent buildings – one together with the Administration Block and the other in the Jeff Kroeker Hall, named in honour of our long-time patron and rafiki who inspired Joshua through the LIFT program.
We have expanded our facilities over time to include a computer lab, a library, and aspire to improve our facilities even more to include a paved sports field where morning assembly takes place.
The Classrooms
Our classrooms are equipped with the essentials to facilitate learning, and we’re continuously looking for ways to improve the classroom environment.
Computer Lab
Students at GSSA have access to a computer lab where they learn a variety of computer and digital skills suitable for their age and in line with current times. A dedicated teacher guides them along the learning, doing research on the internet, and to equip them with knowledge around the world at their fingertips from Kenya.
Library
Our Lawrence Leung Library, named in honour of Joshua’s mentor and rafiki, was established in 2023. With efforts led by Maya, friends from Canada provided a collection of English children books to the library to enrich and supplement students’ learning at the GSSA. The access to additional learning materials is special and a joy for students. As a student exclaimed, “I just want to stay here and read a book”
Our students are encouraged to borrow books from the library and read outside of their school hours.
The Essentials
There are different day-to-day challenges for GSSA where we have equipped ourselves with essentials to ensure classes continue as much as possible. We have installed a back-up electricity generator as well as a water tank. However, there are many more challenges that we need support to resolve. See the Support Us pages to learn more!
